An aspiring engineer, this Bay Area-based blogger and science lover has been involved with GLSEN since 2017. She fuels her passion for representation and inclusion by speaking up for LGBTQ+ youth, immigrants, and disability justice.

Selena Jeffers

When she’s not pursuing her passion for cheerleading or her goals of becoming a pediatrician, this North Carolina advocate can be found speaking up for others and making a difference. Her biggest hope for her LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters is acceptance—both within the community and outside of it.

With a dedication to social justice and student advocacy, Elle founded the Central Texas GSA Coalition to support for 100 LGBTQ+ teens. They deeply value the importance of promoting change through conversations and community.

This Latinx student leader dreams of one day becoming a U.S. Supreme Court justice. As the policy liaison for GLSEN and as the Vice President of her school’s GSA, she is hard at work serving others and creating safe spaces for all identities.

El Martinez

Passionate about creating sociopolitical change, El worked with the Massachusetts legislature to introduce a bill creating gender-neutral designations on state documents. They believe in bringing about equality through public policy and deeply value GLSEN as a resource for youth.

JP Grant

JP Grant, 18

“I consider owning my authenticity my biggest accomplishment.”

As someone who struggled growing up transgender, this Massachusetts-based activist got into advocacy so that he could be the kind of leader he needed when he was younger. One of the GLSEN programs he’s most passionate about is “Here Black and Queer,” a Twitter chat by and for Black LGBTQ youth.

Having first gotten involved with GLSEN by working on a book project for elementary school children, this New York-based athlete and second-generation Chinese American encourages a culture of inclusivity by looking to the future and standing up for trans youth and people of color.
